Dom Irrera’s comedy was born in South Philadelphia, where he was raised in a bustling, multi-generational Italian-American household. Surrounded by family and overflowing with personality, his early life shaped the sharp observations, rich storytelling, and vivid characters that would become his comedic signature. That foundation set the tone for a career defined by effortless timing and relatable, character-driven humor.

Dom’s national breakout came with his performance on Rodney Dangerfield’s HBO special Nothing Goes Right, quickly followed by his own HBO special One Night Stand, which earned him a CableACE Award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Special in 1989. He returned to HBO with Command Performance in 1992, then hosted Full Frontal Comedy for Showtime, winning his second CableACE in 1995. That same year, he received a writing nomination for Comedy Central’s Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist. Dom has appeared on nearly every major talk show – The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Letterman, Conan, The Daily Show, Craig Ferguson, The View, and Oprah – cementing his status as one of comedy’s most versatile voices.

A festival favorite, Dom holds the record for most appearances by an American comedian at Montreal’s Just For Laughs. He’s also performed at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Ireland’s Cat Laughs Festival, and the Edinburgh Festival, where he received the Herald Award for artistic excellence. His TV and film credits include Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens, I’m Dying Up Here, and voice roles on Hey Arnold! and Back at the Barnyard—the latter earning him a Daytime Emmy. He’s appeared in cult classics like The Big Lebowski and Hollywood Shuffle. He was also featured on the dais of The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis.
